A Beautiful Bridal Shower

This weekend, while I was seriously under the weather, was all about weddings. On Friday night I went to a drag show for a friend’s birthday and sat next to a bachelorette party, on Saturday night one of my best friend’s asked me to be a bridesmaid in her wedding next summer (and I said yes), on Sunday that same friend found a dress, and yesterday I spent the afternoon at another good friend’s bridal shower.  Holy weddings. 

I had been to a few bridal showers before but yesterday’s at a beautiful country club in Darien, Connecticut was the definition of understated elegance.  The food was delicous, the presents were incredibly thoughtful, and it the company was wonderful.   We feasted on homemade bread, cold soups, lobster rolls, and chicken wraps before diving into a delectable vanilla and strawberry cake. 

For her wedding Mal had registered at a site called Zola, which I had not heard of until I saw it on the shower invite, but it is such a unique idea.  In addition to receiving cookware and a number of other household items she had asked for she was also about to register for services and experiences and received a few of those yesterday too as friends gave and family gave her an annual Citi Bike membership for two, a cleaning service, and a hike and whiskey day trip.  Such a cute idea!

Thanks to my good friend for including me in this special event, and for the girls who journey to and from Manhattan to the event with me – we truly made it into a great Sunday! I can not wait for the festivities to continue thorough the end of the summer!
