How much do my readers care about my personal life? It is a question I ask my self often especially when I am toying with writing something off the beaten path of fashion and lifestyle. Sometimes I hold back because I do not think the topic would go over well or it is something I may tell my girlfriends but may not necessarily something I would want my grandma or my employer to read. But those are few and far between. Most times the question arises when I am unsure if the post will go over well. And then sometimes, I throw in the towel and say to heck with it, this is my blog. Today is one of those days. I may be what some of us jokingly refer to as a swammer but swimming was a bit part of my life for so many years for it ever to truly leave me.
I will be home in Florida for Easter next weekend and I am already updating the playlist for my swim ipod so I can jam, my dad’s word, along to tunes while swimming laps outside. And if I was not already excited enough for this last minute trip Michael Phelps’ new Under Armour spot (sorry for the industry jargon, commercial) keeps popping up on my various social media news feeds.
While I have always been a Nike girl this minute and a half clip gives me the tingles. I may be retired from competitive athletics and not training for anything in particular but as the most intensive part of my fitness journey nears an end watching this was exactly what I needed. An extra push, an extra boost to book that early morning spin class, and the extra drive to be just that much better.
Love or hate Phelps he is an incredible athlete with an unparalleled record. Even in the land of swimming I always lean towards Ryan Lochte but this video just too good – too good not to share. If you have not seen it, take the two minutes, plug in your headphones, and be amazed. If you have seen, watch it again.
Am I right? Chills everywhere. And from the vantage point of a swimmer I envy his off the wall dolphin kick before the first stroke. Regardless of your knowledge of the sport there are 140 days until the Rio where Michael Phelps, if he qualifies, will be back in the pool for his final Olympics and I will be watching every single minute.
