Merry, Merry Christmas! Today on Christmas Eve I am so excited to be with my family for more than 48 hours to celebrate the holiday. The older I grow the more I realize it’s not about the presents, it’s about being together with the ones you love.
I’m excited this year I get to spend a full week – from Christmas to New Years – with my brother and parents. I landed in Florida last night so I had no part in putting together the holiday decorations but I love coming home to a fully decorated Christmas tree.
Growing up it was a family tradition the weekend after Thanskgiving to go pick out the tree at Stew Leonard’s (only a Northeast thing) and then take it home to decorate. I have funny memories driving home with an extra large evergreen strapped to the roof of the car and then patiently waiting for my Dad to finish stringing the white lights before it was time for ornaments. Now that my brother and I are “adults” with “real jobs” we did not play a part this year but my mother did a wonderful job, per usual, and I especially love our homemade ornaments – this is one of my favorites:
I am going to unplug for the next few days and will be back on Monday. Until then I hope you have a wonderful time wth your family and loved ones and if you celebrate, Merry Christmas!
