Dominique Bistro Grand Opening

11/12/15 | Delicious Eats, New York City

Last week I had the most wonderful time at the Dominique Bistro Grand Opening with my friend, Christina. I need to get a jump start on all of the wonderful goals I set out on my 101 in 1001 list and this evening helped me tackle number 73, Visit 5 new restaurants and blog about them. When I wrote down this line item I meant “new” as in places I had never been before but this killed two birds with one stone, a brand new restaurant that I had never been to.

This cute bistro has a highly coveted corner location on Christopher Street and Gay Street in the West Village. We arrived only 15 minutes after the event started but even then, once on the street you did not need Google Maps to find it – the lights, noise, and dozens of people drew you in.  While sipping white wine we tried a handful of dishes from the menu which the establishment defines as delicious Parisian food served with traditional French finesse and flavor from the new artisanal bistro.

Over the course of the three hours we passed up a few of the dishes but did enjoy the cheese plate, the pear salad with baby arugula, poached pears, aged gorgonzola, and candied walnuts,  the Ahi tuna tartare made with ahi tuna, tomatoes, avocado, and lemon oil, the Octopus salad made with baby octopus, olives, potatoes, arugula, chickpea puree, the North Atlantic salmon, with sun dried tomatoes, spinach, white beans, and pesto all made in the open kitchen.

After a ton of delicious appetizers we headed up the stairs into the main restaurant to leave when the very cute chef started blasting the tops of the creme brules, so we stayed to watch.  Once they sugar desserts were up on the counter they were joined which mounds of chocolate mouse.  The two both looked so good I asked which he would recommend and after hemming and hawing he suggested the chocolate. And. It. Was. So. Good.
