How is it Monday again? I must admit, this weekend flew by. You might have seen on Instagram, this weekend my parents were in town and my brother and I spent time with them Friday night, all day Saturday and all day Sunday. To recap: we had an amazing dinner at Bocco Di Bacco in Hell’s Kitchen on Friday night, a restaurant I will have to go back to and blog about soon, and then had drinks with family friends. Saturday was more eating, tons of errands, and winter proofing my apartment before we went to a lovely Italian dinner and saw the King and I on Broadway at Lincoln Center which will get its own post.
Sunday morning we got up early, packed into the car, and traveled the 20 minutes to Van Cortlandt Park. My brother, Kevin, played ultimate frisbee completely in college and now plays on a rec team with games in the Bronx. Yesterday he had two matches and the first they won automatically as the other team did not have enough players and thus forfeited. But instead of sitting around for 90 minutes they played anyway and treated it as a scrimmage / warm up.

After the tune up game there was a 15 minute break where I was able to wander around and take some pictures of the beautiful fall foliage. As I headed back to the field my Canon T5i started flashing the dreaded low battery signal so I only have a few more shots for the rest of the day. The second game my brother’s team won the game 13-5 solidifying their position as the best in the league and improving their season standings to 12-0. I had fun watching Kev play as he took risky dives and made spectacular catches, especially as it went from 50 degrees in the morning to 63 as they finished their game.
And it was a real treat to have my mom’s brownies that she made for all of my brother’s teammates. The last time she whipped up a batch for one of my sporting events, I believe, was my senior meet at Georgetown at the end of 2011. It was a nice throwback and they were just as delicious as I remember!
Did you do anything fun this weekend?

Lovely photos – never really placed ultimate frisbee, but we had a really big ultimate frisbee team in college – it was really big there. And how lovely that you were able to spend a nice weekend with family. I really cherish these kinds of weekends myself!
