Earlier this month I attended one of the hottest bridal shows around, the Claire Pettibone Couture Runway Presentation. I had heard of the designer in passing but as I no longer have cable and it has been a few years since I have seen “Say Yes to the Dress” the only wedding dress designers I could name off the top of my head were Vera Wang and Pnina Tornai. Thus, I was excited to get to see the collection of another designers so a few weeks ago after work I switched into my flats and walked the few blocks from the office to The Price George Ballroom on 28th Street and Madison Avenue.
Let me tell you, holy gold gilded beautifulness everywhere. From the moment I walked in the door you I was ushered to the check to get my seat assignment, shown down the line of beautiful engagement rings, guided over to the Moet station to get a glass of champagne, and then escorted to my seat. The entire presentation was beautiful and every third dress had me saying, yes, yes to that dress.
The dresses were beautiful and I had a particular love affair with the backs. I had a hard time photographing them as many I just wanted to watch sashay down the runway and stare at as they breezed past but here are a couple of shots I was able to get from my second row seat at the end of the catwalk:
It was odd to me that when the models were done walking instead of going backstage they stood around the central pillars of the room, moving as each girl joined them, until the show was over. But it was more time to look at the beautiful backs of the sheath dresses.
It was a beautiful presentation, not lasting more than your usual 15 minutes, and I was glad to share the experience with my friend Natalie who had never been to a fashion show. I documented the show on Snapchat and here are two of my favorite Snaps.
I will definitely be saying yes to more bridal fashion show invites even though I will not be getting married any time soon! And speaking of New York City, events in the town are my absolutely favorite and I am definitely going to start blogging about more of them. As you know from my Halloween makeup post yesterday I have plans next weekend but if you do not I must share with you the Gilt City Halloween events, they have up to 30% off some of the hottest Halloween parties in town. Take a look all of their offers for October 31st including some of the biggest hotspots in the Financial District (think amazing One World Trade Center views).
What kinds of NYC events would like to read about?
