Summer is finally here to stay in New York City and I am excited to take up one of my favorite activities, drinking on rooftop bars. As you may have seen from my post from a few weeks ago I went to the rooftop of 75 Wall Street down in Tribeca / the Financial District and was reminded of just how pretty NYC sunsets are from the top of tall buildings. There are dozens of rooftop bars in the city and many have stunning views:
It is funny that the photo above was from one of the worst first dates I have ever been on, but hey, the view was gorgeous. Drinks at that particular spot were not quite my cup of tea (almost everything was gin based) but I do have a few go-to spots. My favorite New York City rooftop bars are the tropical roof of The Delancey on the Lower East Side, the Gansevoort Park in Gramercy, the Rooftop Lounge at Pod 39 in Midtown East, and Birreria, the rooftop of Eataly, in Flatiron along with The Frying Pan and Boat Basin which are not rooftops but close!
Despite having my go-tos, every summer I like to try a few new places. It might already be mid-July but this summer there are six places I would like to try (and all images are from Google):
Mad46 at Roosevelt Hotel in Midtown East
Bookmarks Rooftop Lounge at the Library Hotel in Midtown
Cantina Rooftop in Hell’s Kitchen
Cloud Social Rooftop in Midtown
Gallow Green in Chelsea
The Jane Hotel Rooftop in Meatpacking
After looking at these pretty photos I want to jump on the next elevator to the top of these buildings and indulge in a speciality cocktail or two while enjoying the sunset. Thursdays are my favorite evening for rooftop drinks, who wants to join me next week?
