Even Doughnuts Have Birthdays

 If you have been around Sparkles and Shoes a while you will know I love all things birthdays and all things cake batter, combined I have no words.  On Monday Krispy Kreme launched their limited edition Birthday Cake Batter doughnut and it was divine. Made with a blend of Kreme and birthday cake batter it is topped with yellow icing and bright confetti sprinkles – oh my goodness, yum.

Have I made you hungry for doughnuts yet?  Well let me tell you, to celebrate Krispy Kreme’s 78th Birthday this Friday, July 10th, if you buy one dozen donuts of any flavor at participating stores you can purchase the second dozen of the famous Original Glazed doughnuts for 78¢.  If you are like me though, you don’t really need two dozen donuts so what could you do with them?  Well, yesterday I brought 36 donuts into my office and I have to say, it is a great way to make friends. 🙂   (And now at least five people know I write a blog who did not before, an added bonus!)  

On Friday if you decide not to bring your extra dozen doughnuts to work like I did you could give them as a thank you to your child’s teacher at school or counselor at camp. Another option, you could bring them by a local fire or police station and thank our service men and women for all of their hard work.  While you are at Krispe Kreme make sure to pick up a Birthday Cake Batter doughnut, they are SO delicious – I was planning on only having half a doughnut and instead ended up eating one and a half.  Whoops! You can also not go wrong with the Brownie Batter doughnut especially if chocolate is your thing.
