This weekend my mom was in town and those are always some of my favorite weekends of the year. When she arrives in Manhattan we enjoy wonderful meals, usually see a Broadway play or two, and do touristy New York City things even though I live here and she did for a handful of years in the 80’s. This weekend was no different. On Saturday night we dined at an Italian restaurant in Hell’s Kitchen and then headed to see Jersey Boys.
There is one thing about New York in the summer, while it might be hot, humid, and muggy outside almost every establishment has their air conditioner blasting so when you step through the doors it as if you were hit with a blast of Arctic air. Therefore, whenever I go to dinner and a play I make sure to bring a wrap or sweater on Saturday I took my new Crane & Lion Wrap Sweater out for its inaugural journey and it could not have been more perfect.
I love when my mom comes to town, it is seriously my favorite. After a long winter of seeing her only once every few months this summer I will not have to go more than a few weeks which is fine by me 😉
After a few beautiful photos it was off to dinner and I had to take the sweater off because, surprise, surprise, New York City weather was actually behaving and it was a balmy June evening. Although the blue wen sweater went right back on when we sat down to our favorite pre-theater spot Pietrasanta Restaurant and their price fixed dinner special. (I get the salmon every time, it is killer.)
After Newsies, If/Then, and Book of Mormon last summer I was excited to see a new show this year and while Something Rotten was on my radar we went to one of the most beloved musicals of all time. Even though Jersey Boys has been on Broadway for 10 years now I have never seen it and was thrilled. As I expected, it was amazing and surprisingly I knew at least half of the songs including Big Girls Don’t Cry, Bye Bye Baby (Baby Goodbye), Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You and even ones I did not even know were sung by the four seasons, like December, 1963 (Oh, What A Night).
The perfect summer cardigan for a perfect summer evening!
