How do I have a favorite French château when I have never even been in the French countryside? Through blogging! I found one of my favorite blogs through one of the greatest headlines “Couple Buy an Abandoned French Chateau, Start a Blog to share their Journey”. Last year an Australian couple purchased the decaying Chateau de Gudanes and this place is stunning. Their goal? Restore the 94 room home to its former glory.
I loved reading about all of the history of the beautiful home that was built in the mid1700’s but instead of dorking out about how it is a Class 1 Historic Monument and was designed by Parisian architect Ange-Jacques Gabriel and such you can read their blog for yourself. For some reason when I think France I always think Paris or close to Paris. However, I realized how far and wide their search must have been because this chateau is located 788 km or 490 miles south of Paris but less than an hour from the border with Spain. Basically in the middle of nowhere but I could not be any more obsessed.
I follow along on Instgram with 85,000 other people who love watching the amazing house progress as much as I do. Here are some of my favorite shots from their Insta:
Honestly, how could you not slowly but surely fall in love with this Chateau? The captions of the these photos range from “letting in some cool mountain air” and “the château nestled in the heart of the valley” to “spiraling the stairs up three levels to a glass dome in the turret” and “newly discovered detail inside a fireplace”. With every post it ranks higher and higher on my list of best Instgram accounts.
Don’t you agree? Isn’t it gorgeous?
