It is two weeks until Halloween and I have nothing to wear. I asked my friends in all seriousness if we were getting too old to dress up this year and you should have seen their faces, it looked like I insulted their mothers! So guess what? We are dressing up!
I thought last year I was playing it safe with two iconic choices, Little Red Riding Hood and Snow White. I had a great time as Little Red Riding Hood at a friends costume party and a wonderful evening with Karly Kim on a Halloween boat cruise in my Snow White costume. The thing is, over the summer I realized both of last year’s costumes are repeats from previous years:
With those in mind this year I am determined to be original. In order to do so I took a look at the things I had been in the past, in college I was a Catholic school girl, a pirate, a peacock, and a police officer. After graduating college I’ve dressed as Honey Boo Boo, a cat, and of course, Little Red Riding Hood and Snow White. So what am I going to be this year? Well after crazy Googling I found a few store-bought costumes that I am so-so about. Do you know how hard it is to find a costume that is not over $100 or overtly sexual? Guys, Halloween is October 31st every year and now that I am past the age of eight my costume wearing will not begin until 10pm and it is going to be COLD. Here are the costumes I am on the fence about:
Cow / Wicked Witch / Native American / Tavern Maid / Prisoner
They are cute but nothing wow and again, I want to be different this year. After perusing Pinterest, PopSugar, Elle, Magazine and Google images these are my six favorite DIY costumes for this Halloween:
Wanderlust Travel Bug // Regina George
/ Solar System // Minnie Mouse
Scarecrow // Audrey Hepburn
What do you think I should be this year?

Oh my goodness, yes it is SO hard to find an affordable costume not focusing on your tatas! Probably the reason I’ve never had a good costume…or I’m too lazy to think of an original idea. I like the Audrey Hepburn one!

do Audrey all the way! 🙂 Oh wait you wanted to be original…hmm…yea I’m no good at costumes! I never dress up until I had kids and then it’s dictated by them. So far we’ve been able to do family themes…but this might be the last year as next year my daughter will be 2 and surely have an opinion…

Those are some great choices! I say a repeat of Little Red 🙂

I like the Pocahontas costume. I also like the Audrey Hepburn one. We are having a Halloween costume contest at work. My department is probably going as Orange Is the New Black. If we don’t do a group them, I was planning to be Holly Golightly. I think it’s a good and easy backup plan.

Oo, yes, I think Audrey would be perfect for you!

You would be a fab Audrey!

I like the travel bug (or just a butterfly), Minnie Mouse, and Scarecrow!
