Transitioning to Spring

03/19/14 | blog love, Fashion and Style, J Crew

Spring officially begins on Friday but the weather in New York City does not seem to have gotten the message. Last week we had that glorious day where it hit 65°F but now we are back to this barely above freezing nonsense.  #notokay I really think I have jumped the gun about a month too soon by pulling out many of my spring time favorites. I am not going to apologize though, I am so ready for warm weather I will do whatever I have to to make it come faster.  And for the next month, it looks like I am going to be layering with cardigan. Good thing I have one our two:

Sparkles and Shoes Layering with Sweaters

I am one of those people who could go shopping 365 days a year if little things like my job and my bank account were not factors.  Since they are, I am with the majority of women who find it difficult to purchase new clothing for every season as I am on a limited budget. My strategy for the past few years has been to purchase quality summer and winter pieces and transition them with cardigans.  I have sweaters that are black, white, heavy, light, cotton, cashmere, and everything in between.

I definitely get the most use out of my neutral cardigans (especially the black one at my desk) but the printed ones are so much fun!  They make it easy to cover up a traditionally spring or summer outfit, switch my Jack Rogers for a pair of closed toed shoes, and I am good to go!  My number one must have, would definitely be a cardigan followed by thick tights!   If you need a good sweater that will last for many seasons, here are three I’ve had my eye on:

Transitioning to Spring with Cardigans

V-Neck Black Cashmere // Grey Two-Tone // Navy Buttonless

I mentioned this last week but I will say it again, I love fashion but will never be a top notch fashion blogger and that is perfectly alright with me! From watching these ladies the past two years I have collected a list of tips, get inspired by your surroundings, repurpose your winter staples, alter your color palette, mix prints and patterns, and most definitely add layers! To prove I am not the only one who layers with cardigans, take a cue from these four power-house fashion bloggers, all of whom can be found on my blog love list!

Blair Eadie of Atlantic Pacific and Emily Schuman and Cupcakes and Cashmere
Wendy Nguyen of Wendy's Lookbook and Aimee Song of Song of Style
Wendy of Wendy’s LookBook  // Aimee of Song of Style
Blair of Atlantic Pacific //  Emily of Cupcakes and Cashmere

Will you layer with cardigans while the weather decides if it wants to corporate?

Ps. My new goal is to layer like Doutzen Kroes!

I share your love of cardigans. I tend to use to stretch my summer wardrobe in the fall.

I love shopping, but I have too many clothes. Yes, yes, I know this isn’t ‘possible’ and I could get rid of old stuff, but I invest in pretty classic stuff, so I don’t want to get rid of my lovely clothes 😉 The struggle…

I would layer with cardigan as I love layering. Sometimes when it gets warm, the cardigan can be tied at the waist area. That looks pretty cool too don’t you think? =)
These few bloggers are definitely worth following for some fashion tips =)

I love that it’s finally warming up, I just wish it would stay consistently warm. And yes to cardigans! Even when it’s warm out, the office and every store I walk into is freezing so they come in handy.

I have a bad feeling there will be no transition for Wisconsin… we’ll be jumping right from winter to summer!
