You will rarely ever hear me say “Happy Monday” but today is a happy Monday because it is St. Patrick’s Day (which I celebrated in style over the weekend) and the start of a really big week for me, more to come on that later. Now for the fashion – one great transitional look from Spring to Summer is denim on denim. The Spring ensemble provides coverage, but nothing overwhelming and something that definitely can be layered. I was excited when I saw Emma Watson on the cover of this month’s Elle in her very own Canadian Tuxedo!
When I think of Hermione Emma this is not usually what I picture her in but hey, she is on the cover of a fashion magazine and this combination is trending. Don’t believe me? Take a look at this collection of ten celebrities and fashion bloggers who are killing it:
The real key is mixing the color of the denim, a light top and a dark wash bottom pair nicely!
But the real question is, would you wear it?

I think I would wear it nowadays, but I used to cringe at the thought of mixing different color denim! This was pre- chambray, though.

I love the denim on denim look, but I agree with you that matching (or mismatching to be exact) the denim colours is crucial!

Done right I love it, but it’s so easy to go wrong so fast!

I just love that mag cover- Emma looks amazing!

I keep wanting to pair my chambray top with my dark wash jeans – but I haven’t stepped out of my apartment in it yet. I’m too nervous! Maybe if I pair it with a bright heel I’ll look more fashion forward and put together, haha.

I love a good canadian tuxedo. Currently on the hunt for super dark skinnies to balance my light chambray top. Love the inspo!

Yep! I do love me some jean on jean…and tend to wear this a lot! Emma doesn’t look like herself on the cover of that magazine….maybe it’s just a different look for her, like you said.

Still can’t get on this trend bandwagon. Will always be the Canadian Tuxedo to me.

I’ve worn a light top with dark jeans. It was one of my fave casual fall outfits that I could easily dress up.

such a fine line between pulling it off and looking like the Canadian Tux!

I admit the Canadian Tuxedo look kinda scares me but I do think it works best with a light and dark wash!

I used to hate denim on denim but like you said, the key is to mixing washes. A light denim shirt looks great with dark bottoms.
