The Highest Paid Actors of 2013

This is not the first time I have shared a Forbes list on the blog – they are amazing and they make me happy. This one is Forbes’ List of Hollywood’s Highest paid actors. When I wrote about Forbes’ list of Highest Paid TV actors back in October I was upset to see many of my favorite missing from the list.  While I was not necessarily disappointed in this list, I think each of the ten actors has stared in a better movie than the one that landed them on this list.

(1) Robert Downey Jr. – $75 million.

This year was the year of Avengers – the third highest-grossing movie of all time, but I still think RDJ was at his prime in the first Iron Man. Any charecter who describes himself as a, “Genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist,” and actually pulls it off wins points in my book! 



(2) Channing Tatum – $60 million
Channing Tatum.  Swoon.  That is all.  I have to back it up though.  You know him as Magic Mike but I am proud to say I had him on the cover of my 10th Grade Spanish binder in 2005.  True Story.  To date I still think Step Up is his best movie because the boy can DANCE and plus it is so cute that the movie is where he met his wife – they have such chemistry and even a baby together!

(3) Hugh Jackman – $55 million
The very, very attractive Aussie came in at number three this year because of his Oscar nominated role as Jean Valjean in Les Miserables and is probably best known as  Wolverine in the many X-Men movies.  However, neither of these are my favorite Hugh movie.  The singing, dancing, acting, and generally ripped actor was at his prime in the mind-twister The Prestige. I love it!


(4) Mark Wahlberg – $52 million

I was very surprised to see Marky-Mark on this list, in the top half, no less.  But it is true, Ted was a huge hit. If not for his Calvin Klein underwear ads, he is probably best known as the star of the The Fighter but my favorite movie of his is Shooter – I mean, he just excels as a marksman coming out of exile to save the president. Marky-Mark can come save me any day!

(5) Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson –  $46 million

Fast and Furious 6 put him on this list and he IS great in the whole series but still not my favorite movie of his.  I do not care that it has a 40% on Rotten Tomatos, the 2002 Scorpion King was great – probably because I had a little brother who was obsessed when it came out but the 6 ft 5 in 260 pound actor is pure perfection as a desert warrior rising up against the evil army that is destroying his homeland.



(6) Leonardo DiCaprio – $39 million
Leo really can do no wrong – even his “busts” like Catch Me If You Can put a smile on my face and this year The Great Gatsby helped put him on this list.  But again, niether of these are my favorite Leo movie. I am not sure anyone reading this would disagree – DiCaprio’s biggest hit and best movie is Titanic. He will go down in history as being Jack and it is the second-highest grossing film of all time. And yes, he dies in the end.



(7) Adam Sandler – $37 million

When I saw this one I really scratched my head – what was Adam in last year?  I had to read the Forbes description that he was in the animated movie Hotel Transylvania. Yup. I definitely missed that one. Let’s just assume I am not a fan (I do not generally like cartoon movies), he was still in his prime with the movie Big Daddy. Scuba Steve has forever found a place in my heart!



(8) Tom Cruise – $35 million

After the whole Tom-Kat blowout Tom has not been a favorite in the good old US of A but movies like his latest flick, Jack Reacher kill it at the International box office.  Over seas he is still one of the biggest stars in Hollywood but my favorite Cruise movie will always be 1986’s Top Gun. Goodness, gracious, great balls of fire!


(9) Denzel Washington – $33 million
Denzel was nominated for his sixth Oscar this past year thanks to his performance in Flight. It was a great movie and his acting was terrific but I still think he was at best in 2007’s American Gangster opposite Russell Crowe.
 


(10) Liam Neeson – $32 million
Rousing out the top ten? Another brilliant actor. Right now he is well known for Taken and Taken 2 but the best movie of his career, hands down, was twenty years ago – Schindler’s List. If you have not seen it, you really do. Heart wrenching, dramatic, and magnificent.

    I loved & loved to watch Robert Downey Jr. before he was sober, I always knew this guy had talent! πŸ˜‰ I am glad Mrs. Downey made him become a good boy again.

    Robert Downey Jr. is a hottie mchottie. And Leo will always be Jack Dawson.
