Food & The City: Eatlay

03/13/13 | Delicious Eats, Food and The City, Instagram, New York City

The New York City location of Eataly is three minutes from my office and the definition of DANGEROUS.
Dangerous for my girlish figure, wallet, and busy schedule.

EatalyThis one-of-a-kind NYC eatary  is located at 200 5th Avenue taking up a corner block on the Southwest corner of Madison Square Park.  When I told a friend I was writing a post about the amazing food at Eataly she looked at my quizzically and asked why I was writing about a grocery store.  I responded with, “you’ve never been there”.  Eataly could technically be called a grocery store as they do sell everything from cheese and fruit to deli meat and chocolate  but this is NOT your regular grocery store, with 12 restaurants , an information booth, and in-store guest relations team Eataly really does have you covered.
My favorite thing to get here when I am popping in for lunch is the Caprese sandwich they make as you order, with “housemade mozzarella with basil oil, sea salt, and heirloom tomatoes” .   The store is truly a magical place, wander around for even a quarter of an hour and you will see what I mean!

But what makes this place truly special is their three promises to their customers:  1. Choice: We offer a diverse selection of quality food and drink  2. Accessibility: We are dedicated to offering the best products at the lowest possible price points.  3. Knowledge: We feel that it’s not just important that we know everything about what we sell and serve, but that you also learn about the products we are so passionate about…. I read these three statements and agree with them, the more you know the more you enjoy. The store promises to have choice, accessibility  and knowledge in their manifesto and I believe they do a wonderful job of this.  If you do not believe me, look at the photos:

With a mission statement than reads, “And Finally, if you really do not believe me you can read their ten mission statements: We’re in love with food.  Food unites all…  Our target audience is everyone…”  you should definitely check it out the next time you make it to Madison Square Park, yum! (This is my third post on my favorite eats in New York City under the label of of Food & The City, make sure to check out my posts on another great Italian hot spot Il Cantinori and the amazing chocolate at Max Brenner!)

I am OBSESSED with Eataly. Obsessed, I tell ya! I studied abroad in Florence, so Eataly immediately sends me back. Plus, can we talk about how the Shake Shack is across the street. I hope you won’t judge me when I say I get a burger and then gelato…
