Open Table

11/07/12 | Hurricane Sandy, New York City, Washington D.C.

Open Table LogoI am a city girl and a foodie and my favorite thing to combine the two of those? Open Table! There are many restaurants in New York City to choose from but some how the best ones always seem to be booked.  Open Table is my go-to for online-real time reservations for restaurants and it is free!

I first started using the website when my parents came to visit me in Washington, D.C. when I was in college and they wanted to go to a nice restaurant.  Even when some of the best eateries in town are booked Open Table still has tables for four people at 7pm, our preferred time.

Now in New York City I like booking ahead and making sure my friends and I will have a spot at our favorite eateries. Specifically, I used it to book one of my favorite NYC restaurants, Becco, for 12 people for my birthday and it was great to have one less thing to worry about.  But don’t fret, Open Table now has 25,000 restaurants on their system in most states and in many international cities. (read London, Berlin, Paris, Dubai, ect.)

And now, frequent diners (aka ME) get rewards.  Once you accumulate a certain amount of points to company issues you a dining cheque which is basically a gift certificate good for any restaurant which you can use Open Table at, for example 2,000 points equals $20!

Since Open Table has been one of my favorites for a long time, what made me post about it now?  Well, funny you ask… As someone who lived and suffered through Sandy I am very fond of any company or business that acknowledges all of the hardship and loss and Open Table has begun a Dine Out to Support Your Local Restaurants to help restaurants  nd their employees who were hit particularly hard by the storm get back on their feet – a great company and a great cause!
