These posts seem to have shorter and shorter time spans and I am not okay. Wasn’t it last week that I was writing his 6 month update? But I guess not because it is already August – welcome to Henry James’ Seven Month Update.
Nicknames: Big Boy, Little Man, Chunky Monkey, Big Guy (mark only), and Henry. Per Lily’s speech therapist we have shifted away from “Baby Henry” as she then just calls you Baby and now we are all focused on saying your name and using the ASL sign for “H” when we say it. Over the last few weeks this has worked well and she’s starting to get it – yay Lily girl!
Firsts:
- Henry had his first meal in his big boy Stokke HIgh Chair this month.
- Lily is obsessed with trains (“choo choo”), and Henry went on his first train ride—the Bronx Zoo Monorail. The family loves their zoo membership, and Henry has already been to the zoo a handful of times.
- During his baths, he graduated from laying down in the Angelcare Baby Bath Support to sitting up In the Shnuggle Baby Bath.
- As his mom went back to work, the family started combo feeding. While Henry primarily still breastfeeds and has breast milk, he’s also been drinking formula with no problem.
- On his 7-month birthday, they officially marked it as his first day crawling. To be honest, it was more of a commando wiggle, and it took nearly two minutes for him to travel a foot forward—but hey, it counts!
Weight: Four weeks ago, Henry was 16 lbs 4 oz at his 6-month check-up, so it’s likely he’s around 17 lbs now.
Length: He was 26 inches long at the start of July, so probably a bit bigger now.
Teeth: Holding steady at two.
Loves:
- Henry continues to love his Lovevery Play Gym, especially when things are added within his reach that he can grab—bonus points if they rattle.
- Chewing on anything and everything—from toys, fingers, and hair to all sorts of food.
Speaking of food, Henry loves eating fruit from these Silicone Baby Fruit Feeder pops,, especially when it’s cold. - Eating in general, as he enjoys more and more solids. He will even grab the spoon out of a grown-up’s hand if they are too slow.
- Sitting propped against pillows and trying to see everything going on around him.
Hates: Henry hates when anyone takes too long feeding him (solids or milk) or when feeding is stopped for a burp. He also despises getting dressed if anything gets stuck going over his head—and honestly, fair.

Moments to Remember:
- Henry outgrew his 6–12 month sun hat and is now wearing a 1–2 year size—holy cow!
- Lily is obsessed with playing “sleep,” and while adults like a pillow, she hasn’t quite figured out that Henry doesn’t need one, nor that she must be careful with blanket placement so it doesn’t go over his face.
- The family still hasn’t received Henry’s UK passport, but there’s been an update—it has been printed, so they are nearly done with that process (thank goodness).
- Henry is officially too big for the Dock-a-Tot, both lengthwise and because he can roll out (sad face).
- This month, they made Henry’s weaning plan with the help of ChatGPT, and it was great.
- He has liked nearly all the foods he’s tried except for peanut butter, which got stuck to the roof of his mouth. Thankfully, he hasn’t shown any allergic reactions, and the family is almost done introducing the top nine allergens—yay!
Little man, time is a thief! However, we are loving seeing your personality develop and he really is the best little baby!
