On Monday I head back to work. Just writing that is a weird sentence. Seven months is the longest I have not worked since the age of 15 but in a few days it I back to work full time. I know I have been extremely fortunate to take this time off to spend with Lily – a mix of leave offered by my company and using paid vacation days. To American’s this may come as a shock but seven months is considered “short” in the England the law says “Eligible employees can take up to 52 weeks’ maternity leave.” However, to avoid politics it is back to work for me and that will mean three days in the office.
Over the past few months I have dropped three dress sizes as I have worked hard to get back in shape but even though the number on the scale is something I am pretty happy with my body shape is quite different. This is going to pose an interesting challenge as I get dressed for these trips back but a few weeks ago I got a practice run. A friend graciously invited Mark and I to watch the Arsenal game from box seats and we jumped at the chance. For those not familiar Arsenal F.C. is a football (soccer) team in the UK. Nearly everyone in this country has strong feelings about which football team is the best but going purely by numbers Arsenal is the third-most successful club in English football. I chose this red and white outfit for the match based on their team colors and Mark took a few photos:
