One week from today, negative COVID tests in hand, Mark and I should be landing in Bangkok. While we loved our five day mini-moon to the Bahamas last month we are thrilled to be going to Thailand for two weeks. I say going to be honest, our plans are now up in the air but I am going to stay thinking of the positive side.
Our original trip in October 2020 was two and a half weeks in Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam and now over New Year’s we are set to visit just one country, but have plans to explore Bangkok, Chiang Rai, and Koh Samui. We purposely planned our trip during the dry season because dry, warm weather is key. Temperatures can reach highs of up to 36°C but we are playing it by year and packing accordingly. And did you notice the books on my Christmas list? Between the 14 hours flights and days on the beach I plan on reading quite a lot!
This is the first time I have shared trip plans in a while – and I am so excited to be doing so again – but what is strange? usually with only a week until a trip I have everything booked but as mentioned, we are trying to keep it flexible and go with the flow. For now, these are some of the places we want to visit in our Thailand travel plans:
_ _ _ _ _
The Marble Temple, Wat Benchamabophit, in Bangkok via Global Castaway
Dinner at the Tree Tops Sky Dining & Bar, one of the Chaweng Restaurants, in Koh Samui
A stay at the The Athenee Hotel, a Luxury Collection Hotel, in Bangkok via Marriott
Bangkok’s most famous attractive, The Grand Palace, via Anoushka of Anoushka Probyn
Ang Thong National Marine Park, accessible via long boat from Koh Samui via Home is Where Your Bag Is
Pak Khlong Talat, the famed Bangkok flower market via CK Travels
Wat Chedi Luang, the Buddhist temple in the historic center of Chiang Mai, via Chiang Mai Travel
Zip-lining in the Chiang Mai jungle via Flight of the Gibbon
Famed rooftop cocktail bar, Vertigo, at the Banyan Tree hotel in Bangkok via Banyan Tree
Scuba Diving in Sail Rock (Koh Tao), The Best Dive Spot in the Gulf of Thailand, via Silent Divers
Chiang Mai Night Bazaar via Lonely Planet
I have my fingers, toes, and everything else crossed that Omicron is not going to disrupt our plans for this trip but we will take it day by day and hopefully I will be reporting to you live from Thailand before you know it!
Do you have any thoughts for our Thailand travel plans?

Catching up on your blog posts and shoot, I don’t think you are going to be able to go on this.
Bad Word, what a wonderful adventure you would have had.
Hope I am wrong.

Wow. Honeymoon number 3. That is impressive. Hopefully Covid does not get in the way. Hot weather and sun is right up your alley. Skipping winter for 2 weeks is awesome. My job does not allow us to take vacations in January to about Presidents day because it’s busy season. A day here or there is acceptable. Enjoy and stay safe there.
