While Headspace particularly focuses in meditation they suggest it is one of the best ways to decrease stress and I would have to agree. I do not use that app but it reminded me that my Peloton subscription involves meditation. Now this was not a new revelation as I mentioned it in my February Fitness Recap post I had tried their meditation before but only the sleep content (it is great).
However, for the past week I have been trying out different kinds of content – empathy meditation, peace meditation, and – but my favorite is gratitude meditation. While exercise helps over the past few days, this is making a difference, albeit small I am not one to sit still for too long but 5 minutes or 10 minutes? that I can do! And in case any of you are going to look into these classes or want to learn more I love this article from the Peloton blog on How Sleep Meditation Helps You Sleep. And from the past few months Mark and I really love Anna Greenberg for our sleep meditation – her voice is just so soothing!
I was going to wait until the end of the month to share my meditation but while we still have a few weeks left of April I thought it might be useful for to share. For anyone else who wants to take a deep dive into Stress Awareness Month – I would suggest meditation or one of the other proven stress relieving techniques like deep breathing, muscle relaxing, or counseling.
Did you know it was stress awareness month?

Emma says
Never heard of stress awareness month but with all of the challenges people are facing these days I think you could call it stress awareness year.
I try deep breathing, pretending I am skiing or a bird who can fly and try to wait for my stress to reduce itself and get in a happier place. Sometimes super hard for me to do.

Sleep meditation is not something I have considered but sounds like a great natural option.
I have done the melatonin, listen to waves, done the sleep stuff on my iPhone and none of it seems to work very well. Nice idea.

I never knew that there were different kinds of meditations. Shows you that I have never really looked into it.
Thanks for the links too, I will have to give it a try. Let’s face it we all you use a bit of self help and de stressing.

I have never tried meditation before so this is a really interesting thing for me to give a try.

One of my friends swears by meditation and now with your endorsement, I am going to have to try it.
I think my wife will be happy with the results if it works for me.
