Last week the Christmas lights switched on in downtown London and it is all things Chris Kringle for the next two months. Even for the UK this is a bit early but with COVID and the darkness, people need something to look forward to from November 1st, especially as Thanksgiving is not a holiday here. In fact, the last public holiday we had was in August and the next will be December 25th so here we go Christmas!
In terms of Christmas decorations for our flat Mark and I are working on logistics for a real tree (we can not determine with this second London Lockdown if the sidewalk tree pop ups will be there or if the hardware stores will be able to get them in stock), however, there are actually a number of delivery options. I have learned that if you pick out a good tree and take care of it they should last six weeks and this Friday is six weeks until Christmas!
And speaking of six weeks here are the six things I still have on my festive shopping list: doormats, holiday wreaths, tree skirt, ornaments, outdoor lights, and stockings. That is not to say we have the other items sorted – I still have no idea where we are going to get our tree – but when we do figure it out we will have all of the necessary trimmings ready to go – from soft white lights to dozens of shatterproof Christmas Ornaments (and I still think it is so weird that the Brits call them baubles). Here are my top picks:
Farmhouse Living Happy Holidays Rustic Ornaments Coir Doormat | ho. ho. ho. Holiday Outdoor Doormat
Plant & Christmas Letter Graphic Floor Mat. | Farmhouse Living Snowman Baby It’s Cold Outside Winter Coir Doormat
John Lewis & Partners Bloomsbury Red Bauble Wreath. | White Christmas Farmhouse Wreath with Berries and Burlap
Mixed Pine Berry Cone 25″ PVC Wreath | | John Lewis & Partners Bloomsbury Copper Bauble Wreath
Milda Ruffled Tree Skirt in Red | John Lewis & Partners Willow Tree Skirt
Wondershop Pompom Christmas Tree Skirt in Ivory | John Lewis & Partners Party Sequin Silver Tree Skirt
Valery Madelyn Red and White Christmas Baubles, | Wayfair Basics Red Ball Ornament Set
Renaissance Decorated Champagne Baubles | KI Store Silver Shatterproof Christmas Decorations Tree Balls
Outdoor/Indoor Christmas Grazing Reindeer | Holiday Time Clear Twinkling Icicle Christmas Lights Set
Outdoor Cool White Fairy Lights | John Lewis & Partners Alistair the Snowman 80 LED Figure
Personalized White Quilted Handmade Stocking | FREESOO Red and White Antler Christmas Stocking Set
Red Cable Knit Stocking | Natural White Textured Cotton Stocking
So many cute ideas but it is unfortunate how many of these are not able to be shipped to the United Kingdom or are on backorder for a number of weeks. Besides the dozens of cute options listed above I did want to give honorable mentions to Handmade Artificial Hydrangea Christmas Wreath and this Buffalo Plaid Rustic Wreath such a gorgeous place.
What are your favorite Christmas Decorations?

We are Jewish but I love all things Christmas from the smell of the tree to those scented pine cones.
Wreaths, garland, mistletoe, I am all in for all of these festive decorations.
So, my family does both, we do our usual Jewish traditions but also put a bit of the merry ho ho on during the season.

It really bugs me when stores put out their Christmas things before Thanksgiving.
Today at the stores there were stocking stuffer, candy and poinsettias everywhere. UGH>>>>>
We always sing Christmas carols at our house and it is one of my favorite family traditions.

Those wreaths are really pretty and I am going to order one for my mom. I think it will really pick up her spirits during this tough time every time she sees it. Great selection Kelly thank you.
My favorite tradition was always making a gingerbread house a week or two before Christmas and using it as a centerpiece for holiday coffees With my friends and get together’s..

I do not think you should decorate for Christmas until after Thanksgiving but the options you picked here are very cute!
My favorite thing is the cresch we have. I have such fond memories as a child looking at it awaiting the birth of baby Jesus who would miraculously arrive on Christmas morning.
