Pattern Mixing, Done Right

Pattern Mixing - Blair of Atlantic-Pacific

Blair of Atlantic-Pacific

I used to be widely afraid of pattern mixing – I always thought that if there was one element with a pattern or a print (like my high school uniform kilt skirt) that everything else had to be a solid or a neutral.  However, seven years of fashion blogging have taught me that is simply just not true.  There are so many ways chic bloggers that I follow have have styled pieces and made it pattern mixing – a small pattern with a large one, sticking with one main color scheme, playing with the size of the prints, and more!

The best part about this trend? No need to go shopping – you can simply mix the pieces in your closet! I have rounded up inspiration from small bloggers, large ones, and some of my past style icons including Wendy and Blair, pictured above.  I have found ten examples I love and want to encourage all of you to go shopping in your own closet!

Is pattern mixing a fashion trend that you would try?
