During my trip to the South Coast I asked a coworker here in London for recommendations and the first thing she told me is that I had to eat at The Pig On The Beach and she was certainly not wrong. This is a 23 bedroom country house and while we did not stay there the rooms we did see were adorable but what really got me was their tag line “What can’t be grown in our Kitchen Garden, is sourced locally. ” Knowing my parents are a big fan of good food I made a reservation at this prestigious restaurant and just told them they had to trust me as the restaurants menu changes based on what is fresh in the garden and what they can source.
Sitting down to a late lunch we were certainly not disappointed from the charming decor to the delicious food which came in a very speedy manor. We started with the Smoked Vodka BBQ Pork Belly, the Crispy Broccoli & Ranch Dressing, and the Bromham CauliflowerSoup with Rapeseed Oil. Then it was on to the mains where we had including the Middle White ‘Tomahawk” Pork Chop with garden greens and a delicious mustard cream sauce and the Phil Samways’ Pork Fillet with truffle creamed potato and pickled pear – because when you are at a place that specliazes in pug, its a good idea to order pork!

After lunch we took a walk around the property and everything was so charming from the multi-color and multi-size Hunter wellies at the front door available for guests to the garden which was clear, they sourced the lunch from. Now, besides wanting to go back, I also want to check out their other proprieties, The Pig in The Forest, The Pig in The Wall, The Pig Near Bath, The Pig on The Beach. And no, this isn’t sponsored but I wish it was!

Does the Pig on the Beach sound like your kind of place?

It sure does!
Total evidence of the real deal of farm to table. So many places talk about it and sometimes I am not really convinced of the claim..
Here theois no doubt!
