Back in June there was a 23 and Me sale for Father’s Day and instead of purchasing a kit for my Father, I bought one for myself. It arrived in a few days, I ddi the test, which was literally splitting into a tube until I hit the black line which was actually harder than I thought. Then you put it back in the box, affix a new mailing label, sending back, and the lab confirms via email when they receive it.
That email from the lab came back on June 22nd – now don’t ask me why but it took them over three months to process my results but I finally got them back and I wanted to share.
When I logged in The profile read “Your Results for All 163 Tested Populations
Along with this break out there was a probability graph on each of these and I got a 5/5 on being Irish – really no surprises there. This geographical breakdown also came with a map and if I was to do this I would have done the world map below shaded by percentage.

I have wanted to try one of these tests but I’m very afraid that the government will take my DNA and try to make clones of me! Someone I know has a cousin whose wife’s best friend’s sister’s mom’s aunt is in the DNA testing world and I hear it’s pretty shady!!!! Just be warned that one day you might be walking down the street somewhere and run into your duplicate! Haha I know it sounds crazy but know but you never know!!!

I haven’t done a test like this but would consider it. I agree with you that I would have liked the map in percentages so that you know easily where the majority of your roots are.
Are you glad you did this? I’ve also heard there can potentially be some issues about privacy and them selling your information? Do you know anything about that?

I never knew what kind of report they gave you. That’s really interesting to find out all the different nationalities that make you up.

So funny that you just posted this. We were just to dinner with friends and the husband of my best girlfriend found out he had a brother that he never knew about. He tracked down the brother and realized they had the same father and neither had known about each other.
