I am so happy that you all liked the first two Arica posts – the highlights of Kenya and Tanzania – so now I am going to start digging in to my national park by national park deep dive. To be honest, over the course of our two week safari we saw much better animals than we did in Lake Manyara National Park but to be honest, there are some great animals to be seen. The park is not that large and two thirds of it is covered by a shallow soda lake and the rest is a combination of grasslands and thick woods. This interesting typography meant it it was the best place to see baboons on our trip – take a look!
The real highlights of the Lake Manyara National Park are the incredible hippos though. There is a massive pond that your jeep drives through. The dozens of hippos are quite active and according to a few sources it is one of the places you can view them at the closest range in Africa which I have to say, might possible be true.
Which of these animals would you most like to see in person?

I like them all. I really can’t make up my mind which ones I like better. The zebras, giraffes, lions, hippos, elephants are all majestic to me. Throw in a rhino or two…wow. You are such a wonderful photographer that I never tire of anything that you show me.

I have to give the nod to the hippos. I never thought of them as cute before but they sure are here.
So jealous that you saw that many at one time in the wild. The photo of the two side by side is adorable.
The baboon photos were pretty cool too. Keep them coming!

Wow – those hippos are so cool and you must have been really close! What a cool experience!

I’ve never seen those colorful lizards before who would have known. The baboon shots are amazing. I think my favorite is the hippos. I still can’t believe for such a huge animal they have the Teeny tiniest little ears. I could watch them all day long.
