Welcome to the start of a new week! I almost jumped the gun and shared with you photos from my latest adventure in Belgium but I figured it is better to play catch up first and sadly, I have not shared all of the amazing photos I have from the great bike tour I went on when in Portugal in March. How sad! I gave you all a sneak preview of this trip when I shared with you Sintra’s Pena Palace in Portugal but today wanted to share with you more of our Sintra experience.
My mom and I decided to go on the Sintra and Cascais 6 Hour Electric Bike Tour and the reviews were right, if you want to see the palaces, this is not the tour for you. We left from the main square in Lisbon after getting our electric bikes and took the hour train to the coastal town of Sintra. From there we ascend Sintra Mountain and took a detour to see the Sintra Palace – where as usually you would just ride right by. From there we we spent nearly the next four hours on the bike and thank goodness for the electric competent as the long distances and steep ascents would have been nearly impossible without the motorisation.
After biking by many of the Sintra palaces including Tivoli Palácio de Seteais, Monserrate Palace, and Quinta Regaleira of Sintra we biked through the the vineyards of Colares , along the dramatic Atlantic Coast, the countryside villages of Penedo and Urgueira villages, and then down to the coastal beach town of Cascais. Unfortunately after the villages and before the beach I took a tumble as we headed down a dirt path and though I didn’t need medical attention was a bit banged up.

I hope you didn’t get too hurt. That would really be unfortunate. Your photos are amazing and they all look like postcards. I’m going to have to move this up on my bucket list where to travel to next.

I’ve heard about Centra but I’ve never been. These pictures on the blog post you did on the palace before are simply amazing. I have to get there soon.
