Hello, hello! I am back from my vacation with my Mom and Portugal was beautiful. We went to Lisbon, Sintra, and Porto and really enjoyed exploring the beatiful country and it’s rich history. But before we dive into some Portugal recaps I have some news to share that I have some big news hinted at in the last few posts. I have been holding on the secret long enough and it is time to tell the whole world. And no, the first two things girls my age usually have for “big news” is that I’m engaged or that I’m pregnant both of which are very, very far from the truth. So if it’s not one of those two, what is the news you might ask? Well, if the title doesn’t give it away I am making a big move and not just switching neighborhoods in NYC…
I am moving to England! No, this is not a belated April Fool’s joke, this is really happening! It has been in the works for quite some time and now that all of my work colleagues, family, and close friends know I felt like it was definitely time to tell my Internet family! Pretty soon I can update all of my bios to “New York girl living the London life 🇺🇸✈🇬🇧”.
I have known for about a month that I will be transferring with my company to our European headquarters and while I am moving within the firm it is a brand new role, a new title, and a new team – talk about a clean slate. So when is this big move happening? Next week! Again, no, not a joke and hopefully you can understand why for the last few weeks you have not been receiving a Sparkles and Shoes in your inbox daily, I have been a bit busy!
The biggest things people who know about the move have asked, is that I was in London last week? Ironically, the answer is no. I had this trip (Moscow, London, and Portugal planned long before and if you have been around these parts a while you will know I try and make an annual trip to London (you can see past trips here). Besides the inquiry about my visit last week there have been SO many questions about my move I am going to do an initial Q&A post so drop me your questions in the comments below and I will get to answering them next week, I promise! It will be an AMA (ask me anything) style and I already have some good ones about dating, the Royal wedding, and my shoe collection so please, keep them coming!
Have you ever lived abroad?

Wow! That’s awesome! Congrats! That’s one of my goals…to move out of the country! I’ve been seriously thinking about and hoping to make that move within a year or two. How would you suggest someone do that while looking for a new job?

Wow. Congrats to your move to London. Hope its a big promotion for you. Weather wise Summers are cold and winters are warmer than NYC. Also London is very rainy. However London is very fashionable. You will fit in well there. When you need a real summer you have to travel. Hopefully you will live in a more roomy place in London as compared to NYC.

So happy for you Kelly!! It is wonderful when hard working focused people such as yourself can make their dreams a reality! I’m sure you have had to do a lot of juggling to make this happen and prepare for your move and hope England surpasses even your greatest expectations!
