Hello and Happy, Happy New Year from a sunny Florida. In less than 24 hours until I head back to New York City to the frozen tundra I call home and while I am not happy about it, it’s time to get back to real life. But now to the most important thing – the reason you clicked today’s email or post, you want to know what my one New Year’s resolution is. And not only is it only one thing, it is one word – Balance.
What do I mean by balance? This year I am not giving up anything or adding anything, I am just going to strive to achieve more balance. When I think of this four big things I know I can work on, for example fitness, spending time with loved ones and this blog. Starting with fitness, I get into really good grooves where my workouts and eating is on point and then it falls off due to some extenuating circumstance – usually a trip or a crazy time at work – this year I want to find a good balance where it is much more consistent.
Spending time with family may seem like an easy one but there are family members – cousins, aunts, and uncles – that I have not seen in years and I want to change that. We can start with Skype, emails, and catching up but family is so important and I want to make sure I make that a priority in 2018 in my already pretty busy life. Oh, so if you see a trip coming up to Chicago, I may go see three cousins – two from my Mom’s side of the family and one from my Dad’s!
Lastly, Sparkles and Shoes, my little pride and joy, we need to find more balance. This past year I had some of the biggest collaborations in the five and a half years it has been around and I am excited to see it grow and flourish even more in 2018 but I need to balance it better with my real job and decided which opportunities and avenues to pursue – as one of my coworkers says, choose the things where the juice is worth the squeeze.
Did you make a New Year’s Resolution?

We can all use so much more balance in our lives – I feel like 2017 wore everyone thin and now it’s time to get back on track with a healthy mindset and healthy habits. I came across this article by The Skinny Confidential up on The Newsette this morning and found it to be an excellent resource in growing my blog this year. Here’s the link if you’d like to take a read and share!

I am going to try and stop and savor moments and try not to rush to the next thing as one of my New Years Resolutions. I like yours too.

I would also add “Don’t Sweat The Small Stuff” and it is all small stuff.
Don’t worry about things that you have no control of.
Happy New Year

I like the phrase about the juice and I think that we all could use more balance in our lives!
