For those not aware, today is one of the biggest holiday’s of the year here in the United States, Thanksgiving! A day where people travel to spend time with their family and enjoying in great food. My parent’s house in Florida is decorated for the occasion (aren’t the pilgrim people so cute?) but we will be celebrating with my grandparents, Aunt, and Uncle a few hours North today. I am so happy I could be here to celebrate with family and enjoy turkey in the company of the ones I love most. It is tradition to share on Thanksgiving – a tradition that goes back hundreds of years – what they are thankful for and in the spirit of the holiday:
I am grateful for the people I choose to surround myself with.
I am grateful for my kind, caring, and compassionate family.
I am grateful for great friends near and far.
I am grateful for coffee and wine which keep me going.
I am grateful for my health.
I am grateful for the ability to travel and see the world.
I am grateful for spellcheck.
I am grateful for homemade pumpkin pie.
I am grateful for a job that uses my brain, not my body.
I am grateful for snail mail.
I am grateful to have employers who value vacation as much as I do.
I am grateful for the tens of thousands of people who read Sparkles and Shoes every month.
I am grateful I do not have to go without.
The list above is clearly some serious and some humorous but in all honesty, and in the least sappy way possible, I am very lucky and thank the stars every day but today in particular. The one thing that is on not on the list above but probably tops them all – I am thankful for time. The last few weeks have proved just how special time with loved ones really is and since my time is one of my most precious commodities and I am going to use it like a gift. In a few days you can expect a recap like this or this but for now it is off to turkey, football, and family time – Happy Thanksgiving!
What are you grateful for?

Great list of “Gratefuls”. It is important that when we are blessed that we acknowledge it and try to pay it forward.

Beautifully put Kelly!! It is a terrific time of year to be grateful but I know you are one of the fortunate ones who is grateful on a daily basis for everything good in your life and almost all of it you have made happen for yourself!
