This past weekend I invited friends, family, former teammates, bloggers, and coworkers to come celebrate my blog’s birthday. You may remember I did this two years ago in my Upper East Side apartment and then last year opted to buy a pair of shoes instead. Well five years felt like a good milestone to get everyone together and I am so glad I did. Something one friend said to me at the end of the party is still ringing true, “I am so glad you are having a party to celebrate an accomplishment that does not have to do with getting married”. Just let that sync in – I always say that celebrating my blog’s birthday is a great excuse to get friends together but she was also right, thanks for the reminder Linds.
Saturday morning actually started out with horrific weather and crazy downpours and I’m glad I had picked a spot that had an easy rain plan – just got inside – but by 2pm when the party kicked off the sun was shining and we were able to snag two picnic tables on the end of the pier overlooking the Statue of Liberty to set up shop. I still have a handful of decorations, like confetti and candles, that never got used but I am happy people had fun with the balloons and party hats – plus our table was only 10 feet away from where Pier A had rose on tap, a true win-win. Take a look at some of the pictures I managed to snap in between all of the merriment on Saturday afternoon!
Over the course of the day more than a dozen people were party of the festivities and as another friend said, quality over quantity. It is true that half a dozen people were missing, including my brother, who I would have loved to be there but overall it was a great time! And the party didn’t stop at 5pm as the invite suggested, we continued into the night at Grand Banks, another great spot on the water!
Thank you to everyone who was part of the 5th Birthday Party celebration!

I see that you celebrated your blogbration (blog celebration (:) ) in style. You had great views of the Hudson River and Statue of Liberty. Love your dress print but too long for me. Best photo was the one with your friends, 1 WTC and the full moon. Great shot.
