Happy, happy Halloween! If you had asked me last Monday what my Halloween plans were I would have said absolutely nothing. This weekend was the end of my crazy month of travel and I had plans to sit on the couch and just relax but sometimes you just have to go with the flow and that meant not one, but two costume parties! The first was in Los Angeles on Thursday night where I was in town for work. One of my Georgetown teammates invited me to a costume party in Santa Monica and while on the road I was able to pull together a costume – buying a tutu from the Target in Pike’s Place Market in Seattle and putting together items I had in my suitcase for a look a bit reminiscent of my Spidergirl costume from 2014. I freehanded the spider web and this is what it looked like.
Then once back in New York City on Saturday night I bought a skeleton costume that morning at Ricky’s and decided to go all out with makeup to make it a bit more authentic. After lunch with a friend visiting from out of town I walked into Sephora and with a few pointers from the staff, including a lash application (I’m wearing Mink #32 – Dramatic Volume), I walked out with a half skull to compliment my robe and gloves. I originally started by watching the first minute of this YouTube video and then made the rest up.
Now I am no makeup artist but I was quite pleased with how it turned out – especially when I realized that five other girls at the party of 60 were also dressed as skeletons and the makeup helped my costume stand out. Now where are all of these other people you might ask? Well before putting pictures on the blog I like to ask people if it is okay if I use their image and I was having so much fun Saturday that I forgot to ask so the only non-me photos will are with my friend Chris who hosted the party and dressed as a panda.
Happy Halloween and to those going out tonight, be safe!
And tell me, which of these DIY Halloween costumes do you like better?
