Diamonds Make Me Happy

If you follow me on Snapcaht you will have seen I had quite a spectacular  morning on Tuesday.  My parents had brunch planned with a good family friend who also happens to be a really world renowned jeweler and when he found out I was joining breakfast he asked if I would like a diamond show first. I almost squealed yes.  Show and tell with Jonathan is literally better than anything you could dream up as a little girl and I will raise your pet rock collection or cool laser pointer with millions of dollars of diamonds any day.  Following the trend, let’s start with the best of the week. 

Yesterday was the Magnificent Jewels & The Cullinan Dream auction at Christie’s and on Tuesday morning I was lucky enough to try on the last item of the day, Lot 124 A Diamond Ring by Harry Winston.  The ring is set with a rectangular-cut diamond, weighing approximately 12.64 carats, flanked on either side by a tapered baguette-cut diamond mounted in platinum and holy heck is it gorgeous.  It was listed for $450,000 – $550,000 and the realized price  (hammer price plus buyer’s premium) came in at $989,000 yesterday afternoon.  And yes, that means on Tuesday morning I had nearly a million dollars on my left hand. 

Yes, that ring is real.  And my fingers are a size eight so it fit perfectly – doesn’t that mean it is a sign or something?  I also had the chance to check out some pretty exquisite clear and colored diamonds while in the office which I posted on Snapchat @kellydonlin. 

When diamond show and tell and then breakfast was over I practically skipped down 5th Avenue, coffee in hand, to a yellow caab and headed to the office. If every day could start out with diamonds, I would be a very happy girl.  I will leave you with this shot you may have seen on Insta of these stunning pear cut diamond earrings coming in at 9 carats a piece.
