On Wednesday night I attended the Grand Opening of the The Saks OFF 5TH and had a ball of a time. As a member of the press (and that never gets old) I arrived at the tail end of the VIP party where dozens of ladies were lined up on 57th Street to get into the store as soon as it opened. Once heading down the escalator I was handed a glass of champagne and a shopping cart and soon found my way to the designer shoe section while Jamie Chung was being interviewed. I had the chance to shop for a few minutes, putting a gorgeous pair of Versace flats in my basket, before having the chance to meet Jamie.
She was unbelievably sweet and even prettier than person. She told me she admired my multi-tasking as I was wheeling a basket, holding a glass of champagne, and cradling my DSLR. In stark contrast to my navy dress, black tights, and booties Jamie radiated Spring in her Zadig & Voltaire leather skirt and cardigan from Gilt’s in-store shop. Oh, and the photo I post of us on Wednesday night is my post liked gram ever:
After meeting Jamie and taking a handful of photos with her I tried on a few pairs of shoes I picked up in the designer section and then continued my tour of the store. Over the next hour I explored the two floors of Saks OFF 5TH making my way through all of the sections including handbags, eyewear, accessories, denim, activewear, designer merchandise, and an expansive men’s department. The amazing team at Gilt sent over a ton of high quality glamour shots of the store and the evening but instead I am going to share a handful of the ones I took and I am proud to say I passed on the cupcakes even though they did look delicious!
You may have seen on Snapchat the gorgeous Burberry trench coat I tried on and did not take off for an hour. I was almost completely done convincing myself I should go ahead and buy it when I ran into a friend from college. After chatting for a few minutes I asked her opinion on the jacket and she told me she liked it but pointed out a stain on the back and that was the tipping point – I was already concerned about keeping the jacket clean and it had a dark, tar-like stain on it. So long sweet, sweet jacket. You were beautiful and it was fun while it lasted.
And now the part you really care about – how can you get in on the fun? Starting March 3, Gilt City members can RSVP at GiltCity.com to receive $30 off of their Saks OFF 5TH purchases of $80 or more at the Saks OFF 5TH, located at 57th and Lexington in Midtown Manhattan. And as added bonus, all Saks OFF 5TH locations now accept Gilt returns in exchange for Saks OFF 5TH merchandise credit.
Happy shopping and Happy Friday!

It’s a shame you didn’t get that jacket – it looks wonderful on you! Although I agree a pain to keep light colours clean sometimes.
Sounds like you had fun at the event!
