Last night was definitely golden and let’s get this out of the way in the first sentence – congrats Leo! It was definitely and interesting show, especially with how overtly racism was addressed, but my favorite part of any awards is always the red carpet the few hours before.
Watching the preshows and then seeing how fans and top fashion critics react to the fashion is always amazing – you can see my top picks from 2014 and 2015 at the respective links! And the stars this year’s Academy Awards did not hold back allowing me to put together a great 2016 Oscars Best Dressed post for you all while watching the show last night:
Charlize Theron in Dior
Olivia Wilde in Valentino
Rachel McAdams in August Getty Atelier
Olivia Munn in Stella McCartney
Saoirse Ronan in Calvin Klein
(Her accent is amazing, go Ireland!)
Eddie Redmayne in Alexander McQueen
n Zuhair Murad
While I don’t absolutely love Naomi’s Armani dress, I have seen her do better, I have to include her because she and Liev are an adorable couple and this when I read this headline “Liev Schreiber Picked Naomi Watts’ Oscar Dress” I swooned. She let him to make the decision because it’s his night; the actor’s latest film, Spotlight, is nominated for best picture and that is just so adorable. #couplegoals
All of the images above and below are from a variety of sources including here, here, and here. And of course, along with every red carpet best dressed list I like to follow it up the ones who did not make the mark. These are my six worst dressed at the 88th Academy Awards:
Heidi Klum in Versace and Jennifer Jason Leigh
n Armani and n Louis Vuitton
These six gowns really did not do it for me, they were just not the best and these stunning ladies could have done much better (congrats Alicia on your win) but there was one magical couple that took home the cake and that really all pale in comparison to. Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet together on the red carpet are just something special and both of them were nominated last night – Leo for Best Actor for his performance in “The Revenant” and Kate for Best Supporting Actress for her role in “Steve Jobs.” (Kate’s dress was ehhh but together they are perfection, irrespective of wardrobe) and again, congrats Leo!
Who do you think topped the 2016 Oscars Best Dressed List?
