Would You Get a Septum Piercing?

06/22/15 | jewelry

Septum piercings.  This is another trend I am seeing more and more of but one I know I will never get on board with.  This nose piecing inside the nasal cavity has seen a steep increase in popularity and with the clip ons / magnetic options that have begun to pop up everyone can jump on the bandwagon.  Celebrities like Jessica Biel and Rihanna sporting clips ons in addition to Lady Gaga and FKA who actually went through with the piercing.

What turned the trend into a blog post though was that two of my style icons and favorite bloggers, Aimee Song of Song of Style, and Anabelle Fluer of VivaLuxury, pictured below, have real ones:

I think that in certain instances this unique accessory that can add a little edge to a look, but for the most part, it is not for me. Over the last few months I have seen unbelievably minimalist options and ridiculously large, painful looking, septum rings.   A handful of ladies below have figured out how to make this interesting nose piercing work in a dainty fashion and some, in my opinion have missed the bar. You can decide which is which:

Yes, absolutely! I love septum piercing and I am soon going to have it. But, unlike others, I would like to wear a sapphire ring in yellow gold. I don’t like white metals! I am sure there must be people like me who think alike.

Personally, I’m not a huge fan of piercings on the face, but there are people who can pull this look off. I just don’t see it being a mainstream trend, but that could just be me.

I personally love piercings but probably wouldn’t get one because I don’t know I would like it long enough to make it worth it (I’m fickle!) and its not necessarily work appropriate.

I think you have to have a really unique look to pull it off!

I like the ones that are really simple (like the one Jessica Biel wore). I don’t work in a job where it would go over well but I’d try a fake one maybe for some variety on weekends. It’s weird because in the pictures above I love them on some people and hate it on others.

Some people can REALLY pull them off. I, however, and not one of those people haha. I personally wouldn’t get one!

It can look pretty cool when done the right way with the right styling, but I could never go through with it!

Not a huge fan but to each there own. The clip on is something I would do for a concert or halloween though.

HATE IT! This is just a personal thing (obviously). I dislike this piercing on anyone – guy or girl.

There are some people who can pull them off really well. I personally would never get it done. I don’t think I could pull it off, plus I have bulldogs who love to jump up and give kisses. And because they have underbites, at least one tooth is likely to snag or brush against your nose. A septum ring being ripped out would not be fun. I do- did- have my nostril pierced and re-pierced, and now I have to get it re-pierced again but I stick to studs with that piercing. So unless one of my dogs decides to stick their tongue up my nose, it’s all good.

It’s kinda weird, I wouldn’t wear a piercing like that since I think it would interfere with nose function, eh. One thing is a clip on, but actual piercing, no for me. It reminds me of bulls. Just my opinion. I don’t see how it makes the faces of ladies prettier, more interesting or statement.
