May I introduce you to the two new men in my life? Nick Brandt and Ralph Lauren are now permeant fixtures in my apartment. Thanks to my grandmother and a coworker I am the proud new owner of two beautiful new coffee table books. The first sentence may have been misleading as dating in New York City is still a very entertaining endeavor and Andrea of Glam Hungry Mom has me just about convinced to start a blog series about it. But until then, back to the two books:
The first? Nick Brandt’s photography book, A Shadow Falls:
As you know from my July post, I am over the moon about the wildlife photographer Nick Brandt and as an early birthday present my grandmother sent me one of his beautiful books! A Shadow Falls is absolutely breathtaking and if you missed my introduction to his work be sure to go check it out! Six of the photos from that post are in this book along with fifty other terrific shots. Here are a few more of my favorites from the book:
The second new man? Ralph. Ralph Lauren:
As I mentioned in my gold tape dispenser post my office is moving and one of the major upsides this past week has been amazing amount of things people want to get rid of which is how this massive Ralph Lauren book came into my life. Ralph, oh Ralph, you are amazing and your 6-pound self titled behemoth of a book is beautiful. And when I say massive, the pages are over a foot tall and in all there are 480 pages. It spans Ralph’s entire 40 year career, it was published in 2011, and while the book was originally $125 but you can now pick it up on Amazon for less than $35 here. Here are a handful of my favorite interior pages:
These two have joined my autographed Humans of New York book on my coffee table and that brings me to 60% of my goal in obtaining five coffee table books on my 101 in 1001 list.
What are your favorite type of coffee table books?

The lion photo has always been a favorite of mine. I just got back from a trip to Boston where we attempted to visit a gallery that has some of his work, but they were closed. Oh how I would LOVE to see one of his giant photographs in the flesh!
