Actually making the move to store my boots for winter is always such a happy day for me. Last year I did it a bit too early and actually had to go back and get them so I waited almost a whole additional month this year. I shared this simple and easy DIY last year in this post but I wanted to dig it out of the blogging archives it is so relevant and I did exactly the same thing this year with the exception of buying the noodles!
I can not think of a better way to celebrate than with the arrival of spring and a Kelly-caliber DIY project from over the weekend – packing away my boots for storage as part of my spring cleaning. Now, boots are obviously shoes, and shoes have a special place in my heart so in anticipation of a long summer (fingers crossed) and an impending move will definitely mean these boots will get jostled quite a bit because I unpack them in October I want them to be pristine. My solution? Pool noodles.
BEFORE
After downsizing my boot collection and donating four pairs to charity I had ten pairs that I am going to keep for next seasons. Here are nine of them (my new Wellies are not pictured).
THE PLAN:
After quite a bit of research it did not surprise me that the best deal I could find for swim noodles was on Amazon Prime. So I decided to spend $14.87 on five Foam Floating Swim Noodles. When doing my comparison shopping I searched for a set of noodles that had a relatively small circumference, these have 2.5 in. diameter with hollow core, so they would fit in even my skinny boots. For some of my boots I have the inserts that came with them but after years may of them have been damaged or lost so this year to properly store the boots I decided to use the pool noodles to support each pair of boots.
AFTER: SUCCESS!
How do you store your boots in the off-season?

This is such a great idea!!! Although I feel I do own too many boots considering I live in Miami, FL…but if you live down here, as soon as the weather drops below 70 degrees, the boots come out…lol! But now, I can def figure out a way to keep them sturdy and standing!

Great idea!! Well, first of all I don’t have that many boots!! Well not the tall kind anyways. I only have 4 of those and then some ankle boots. And actually I don’t feel so bad now seeing all of your boots-so thanks for that!! We have a walk in with an entire wall shoe shelves and it was fine at first and then I started filling it up like crazy. I have a problem!!!
