The weekend is finally here! Coming back from vacation and diving into a busy week es muy dificil but it makes Saturday even better. I can not believe today already marks the fourth installment of Sparkle Sessions, my interview series.  Bloggers mention from time to time the opportunities that they never dreamed would come about when they started their little corner on the web but now materialize after hundreds or thousands of hours of hard work.  Sparkle Sessions is definitely one of those things for me and it makes it even more meaningful that today’s interview is with someone who I know through a real life connection, please meet Danielle and Lighting By Lucia:

Who are you? 
I am Danielle Lucia Schaffer.  Born and raised in NYC and now residing in Del Mar, California.  I am a mother of three, wife to superman (a very sweet dentist) and a lamp designer and photographer.  I grew up in NYC where I had many jobs, from the Versace Showroom to The Howard Stern Show.  I also was a TV production teacher for ten years.

What do you do? 
Today I design lamps out of vintage glass dating back to turn of the century and mid century.  I love Murano and Fenton glass.  I take the vintage glass with disparate elements and gold leaf and silver leaf some of the parts.
 
Where do you do it? 
I do this in my studio in my home that way I can still be home with the kids.

Five word to describe yourself: 
Bohemian, go-getter, trend-setter, charismatic, and creative.
 
How would you describe your aesthetic?
I would say I look at my designs as pieces of art.  It takes me a very long time to design and put together a lamp.  I love how the vintage glass looks with contemporary shades.  It is important for each design to be  one-of-a-kind!  It is also imperative that my lamp really makes the space.

How did you deicide you wanted to be a designer? 
When I commissioned another talented artist to help me with my lighting choices, I decided I could do it myself.  I never expected to be this good at at and most importantly I love each of my designs so much I often find it hard to part with my work.
 
What is the most unique thing in your portfolio?
I would have to say my designs that incorporate 1950 perfume bottles…It’s just such a “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” feel.
 
What is the most glamorous aspect of your work?
I would say designing lamps for particular spaces for various designers.  I love helping designers bring it all together with lighting.

What is one lesson you had to learn the hard way?
Is patience…  Patience with finding the right store for your work that you put so much of your soul into.  You want to find a store that loves and believes in your wok as much as you do.  Fortunately I found MMP HOME right here in DEL MAR CALIFORNIA!  Well, the owner actually found me.  She loves my work and loves to decorate her beautiful unique home decor shop and interior architecture studio. I couldn’t ask for a more perfect match!!!!
