Our generation is obsessed with reality television – from Millionaire Matchmaker and Real Housewives to Shark Tank and Chopped. The Baby Boomer generation generally disapproves and my mom is definitely in that bucket, except for Project Runway. She DVRs it and it is one of the only reality programs that you do not have to (a) watch in order (b) know the a story line and (c) it will not provide any risky content, except for the occasional side boob.
Well, let me tell you, we both loved Christian Siriano who won the the fourth season the show. I still can not believe that he did not get in to the Fashion Institute of Technology – he is so talented! He launched his namesake “Christian Siriano” collection in 2008 with his $100,000 winnings from the show and now at the ripe old age of TWENTY EIGHT his brand is expected to have reached $5 million by 2012.
Now that Project Runway is on to season 12 the only time I get to see him on the occasional marathon rerun and on social media. I follow Christian on Facebook and absolutely love seeing his daily sketches, they never fail brighten up my news feed scrolling. The majority are formal ball gowns of organza, satin, feather or tulle and so many of them are absolutely breath taking! Here are some of my favorites:
How ravishing are his dresses? Swwwoooooonnnn. Honestly, I am not a fan of brides not wearing white but if I was to against to norm I am pretty sure I would get married in CS gown. And the best part? My Christian Siriano love is not totally one sided! When I included him in my New York Fashion Week Best Outfits from the Best Shows post last fall of course I shared it on Twitter and it made my week when he (probably a member of his social media staff, but let’s just pretend him) responded!
It is true though, his garments on the runway make his sketches pale by comparison but as fashion week comes but twice a year his sketches must suffice in the interim! Here is a gorgeous shot of the models walk the runway at the Christian Siriano Fall 2013 fashion show during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York City.
And on my 101 in 1001 list that is coming out next week one of my goals is to buy an original piece of art – a Christian Siriano signed sketch would count, right?

We haven’t watched Project Runway since high school – but Christian Siriano was one of our favorites!! I love that he responded to you on Twitter (& it was totally him and not a staff member in my opinion) 😉
