Fashion Week’s Half-Moon Manicures

09/14/13 | Fashion Week, Kate Spade, Manicure, nail polish, NYFW, Pinterest

Some of the things that come out of the woodwork during New York Fashion Week scare me.  To those girls, and a few guys, what on Earth are you wearing and what on Earth were you thinking?  But this is not a post about the Street style chic that was not so chic, instead, something we all can agree on, manicures.

For the clothes I did like, we will not be seeing them until 2014 (do not fret, I have a massive recap set for Monday), but one thing we can take away right now is some of the fantastic manicures the models were rocking at the shows, specifically the half-moon mani:

Pyramid Crystals at Honor / Red Tips at Desigual / Teal at Lela Rose

The amount of half-moon nails on the runways this New York Fashion Week was staggering and while the Spring and Summer of 2014 has already been dubbed be the season of the this reverse take on French Manicures, I am going to get a head start this fall!  I looked through countless tutorials until I found this easy one I am sure I am going to be rocking in two weeks  for my birthday and University homecoming – a navy and glitter masterpiece:

The Beauty Department, creators of this tutorial, encouraged different color combinations but gave a warning that you will want to  use the lighter shade for the moon of your nail!

I like this style! If you have a steady hand, it’s fairly easy to do free-hand if you have a narrow nail polish brush, too!

I like half moon nails on the actual nail bed, not so fond of the half moon on the tip though. Great tutorial

Oooh these look dead easy with a little know-how! I’m still trying to get to grips with stripes, but these will definitely be the next trend I try 🙂 <3 Claire @ http://www.thejazzpad.com

Ooh, I really like the contrast between the glitter and the creme shade. Maybe I’ll try it this week… just have to buy some of those little stickers! Thanks for the great tutorial.
