This past week have been completely crazy in every good way possible. Lugging gift bags home on the subway is really something I could get used to. In honor of New York Fashion Week I attended three events in the past few days that I want to share: a blogging meet-up, a fantastic rooftop party, and a beauty bloggers dream. For the heck of it, I will start with the most recent:
On Monday night I went to was the BirchBloggers event hosted at the new Birch Local where I was able to build my very own Birchbox. I went with Alyssa, the Runway Chef, and we were in love with the variety of deluxe samples that we picked so many they hardly fit in our box. The pop up location by Chelsea Market is in such a fun area and the two story space had so much going on from hair and makeup services and a beverage bar to a photo booth and candy station.
The second event, Sunday afternoon, was the Reward Style rooftop party. One of the worst things happen though, as I walked in the door. I handed my DSLR camera to a man with a nicer camera than mine and asked him to take a picture of me. In the handoff process he cracked the filter lens on the camera and it splintered into a dozen pieces. Therefore, for the rsNYFW recap, you get Instagram pictures from my phone:
My favorite part of the event, attended by over 100 bloggers in town for Fashion Week, was meeting Kier Mellour of Fashion Addict L.A., who I featured in July as one of my Style icons. She was even sweeter in person that I imagined and her beau, Roger, was kind enough to take these photos of us:
The goodie bag from this party was one of the best I have received from an event since I started blogging: a pair of leopard printed Dylan loafers from Joie Clothing (seen above), the Pressed Taner Long Necklace from Gorjana Griffin, a Theory tote bag and a deck of cards from ModCloth – thank you to all! My only regret from the Reward Style Party was not introducing myself and taking pictures with the powerhouse bloggers who were there, including Wedny Nguyen, Diana Marks, and Aimee Song. Oh well, next time!
Saturday afternoon I had the privilege of having a picnic in Bryant Park with six other bloggers on one of the nicest days of the year. Prior to the event each of the ladies introduced themselves and their blogs but meeting these women in person was even better. Over food and then while taking photos we talked about everything from which is better, Blogger or WordPress to the ways we deal with brands who want to to work with us and our blogs to which shows we would be attending.
The biggest thing I took away from brunch, however, was as a new Disqus user (the comment form many bloggers use) that you need to check the spam comments frequently as many real comments end up in there. And again, as I mentioned in my Polka Dots on 5th Avenue post on Monday, thank you to Mr. Runway Chef for taking the photos below that I am in!
The girls were a real treat, from left to right, Alyssa of Runway Chef, Sarah Monaco of I Bleed Fashion, Diane of Style Context, Katie Cruz of Lucy and Camilla, Marie-Pier of A Fashion Note, me, and Brittany of Piece Love and Soul.
