My Next DIY Project

08/24/13 | DIY, Pinterest

When I started this blog I would have been shocked if you had told me I would do DIY projects on here but as I have learned, never say never!  So far I have done two, a wine cork monogram project and a colored soles shoe experiment, and I am now trying to decide which to do next.  I understand it most likely took me more time to write this post than the actual time to complete some of these products but how else cold I share with all of you?  These are four that I have caught my eye and I would like to try:

from Glitter ‘N Glue

The number one things I look for in DIY’s in simplicity.  For this one all you need is buttons, clippers, glue, and rings with flat tops to make buttons into statement rings. The second thing I look a project that  only has a few steps and this one fits the bill as well, you start by using your clippers to remove the shank from the back of the button. Once you’ve made the back of the button flat, use an ample amount of glue to secure the ring to the back of the button, and let it dry for at least 24 hours. Viola, you are done!

from Oh So Lovely, the blog
These DIY Glass Centerpieces are such a cute idea. All you need are interesting clear glass bottles  (I am going to have to keep my eye out for some the next time I go garage sailing), wash and dry the bottles, and get a hold of some enamel paint made especially for glass. Once you have the materials simply pour some of the enamel paint into the jar and slowly twirl it around until the entire inside is fully coated. Once coated, dump the remaining paint into the next jar until you have painted the insides of every jar. Then all that you have left to do is let the paint dry, which takes about two days. How cute is the result?
from Just Love LY
Even though it has been two months since I have moved to Brooklyn I still have a ton of white walls and I think one of these large lyric art prints would be a great way to decorate.  All you need is a standard size white sheet of paper, pencil, black marker, and your lyrics or quote. You transcribe your chosen words onto the paper with a pencil and once you are happy with the placement, outline with sharpie and erase the pencil.  Then take the paper to a supply store like Kinkos or Staples and print these you will ask for a ‘blue print copy’.  Apparently they will scan your artwork and print it out in black and white pretty quickly and for under $10! If this is true, I will definitely be doing this soon!
from Apartment Therapy

This DIY is definitely the most complicated on my list with 15 tools and resources necessary including the large items of a solid wood bookcase with adjustable shelves, wine racks and holders, wood, paint, and gift wrap among various others. However, I think if I put aside a couple of hours I would be able to turn a bookcase from a thrift store or flea market into an adorable bar for our apartment!

These four ideas all came from my  Pinterest board of more than 300 DIY projects I wish I had time for, some of them are so cool!

What are your favorite projects?
Anything nice and easy that I should try?

These are all so cute. Loving your new design too. I have to ask though, how are you going to get a bookcase home in NYC? 🙂
