Whitney from I Wore Yoga Pants to Work wrote an amazing post called 5 Things Frowned Upon in Real Life That Are Acceptable in Blogging and my favorite part of the post I am cacutally just going to quote, “4. If ya feeling like a pimp, go’on brush ya shoulders off. Pimping is also acceptable in the land o’ blog and you can’t even get arrested for it. How magical? Pimp your friends, pimp your sponsors, pimp your favorite posts. And then go brush ya shoulders off, you blogging gangsta. ” (You can read the full post here).
This post is a very untraditional method of pimping, mainly to celebrate my 100 Votes! Holy crap, this is amazing! Sorry Memé, I know you do not like that word but it is the best way to describe what I am feeling. Like many “fashion bloggers” I have a profile and frequently submit blog posts to be published on the online Lucky Magazine community. I use the word fashion blogger in quotes because while many people have labeled me as that I see myself much more as a lifestyle blogger. It means a ton to me that a magazine about shopping and style publishes my posts on their online community. You can read my posts and see my Lucky profile here:
Besides my profile on the Lucky community I use two other rather non-traditional outlets to share the content on my blog with others: Polyvore and IFB.
The description of Polyvore reads, “Shop, discover and start fashion trends on Polyvore, the web’s largest fashion community” and it is just that. I use this website to find new fashion finds and use items other people have found and pinned (not Pinterest though, but similar, there is a “polyvore it” button you can have on your toolbar). When browsing the site thousands of items are then very effectively indexed by price, color, category brand and store making it very easy to create collages of your favorites. I was pleasantly surprised that 572 people and my profile, when I have never directly linked Polyvore to my blog. But I am now, so go follow me 🙂
The third non-traditional method of social media and shameless self promotion I use is the Independent Fashion Bloggers network This goes back to what I said before – I do not see myself as a fashion blogger, but because I write about trends on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s and shoes on Friday’s I was invited to join. I read their blog everyday and find their posts, written by dozens of bloggers, extremely informative. Besides the blog, I am still learning the site and definitely do not utilize this network to it’s full potential but I plan changing that soon! If you have an IFB profile, let’s be friends!

Kelly, thanks so much for this post! I have been contemplating “pimping” myself out (ha!) and love the way you wrote this post and shared your blogging “pimping ways”. I’m catching up on your site this week and am so glad that I found you out in the blogosphere. I look forward to continuing to follow each other. 😉 Hope you had a great weekend and Happy Monday!
