This will be my third time celebrating the 4th of July in the UK and let me tell you, it is NOT a holiday here. If you think about it, the reason it is a holiday in the United States is because the British lost so it is understandable why they do no celebrate here. And as an American in London I straddle a very interesting line so instead of flaunting a flag I wore a subtle patriotic look, a white lace high neck midi dress and styled it with a red bag, red shoes, blue sunglasses, and blue earrings. I think it is a subtle nod but also a cute look.
This dress was a recent purchase from Asos and when I featured it on my Instagram I had a poll based on something my fiancé said – he thought it looked like a table cloth … Thankfully the majority of you agreed with me and this mid dress made it into my closet. I certainly would not have kept it if it was not partially lined and I like the combination of the low back with the high neck which is finished off with a button closure.

What is interesting is that while the 4th is not a holiday in terms of a national history day it is the day that the British government announced that pubs and restaurants in England are allowed to reopen, thus, it it might actually be one of the rowdiest days of the year, just not for the same reason it is in the States! I will miss the fireworks though!

Happy belated July 4th to you. I love this (table cloth-just kidding) dress on you. I love those killer red high heel sandals on you too. Perfect party outfit for July 4th. I can’t believe that finance called the dress table cloth. Wow. For my July 4th I went camping with boyfriend which was his 1st time ever and we both had a blast. Boyfriend had sore back in the morning for a while because he is not used to sleeping on hard cushions only but as Sunday went on he started feeling better. Happy for your re-opening of pubs and restaurants. Are you traveling to work yet or still working at home.
