Now that I am back from my two week African safari in Tanzania and Kenya the number one questions has been, did you see the big five? And the answer is not only yes, but I can one up it – I saw all of the big 9. The Big Five, by definition, are the five most difficult animals in Africa to hunt on foot and they are the lion, leopard, rhinoceros (either the black and white species), elephant, and Cape buffalo. Now that poaching is illegally and highlight discouraged by all governments the new term is the Big 9 which to some defines the success of safari which measured by whether you have spotted all of the “Big Nine”: the lion, the leopard, the cheetah, the cape buffalo, the elephant, the black rhinoceros, the hippo, the zebra and the giraffe.
I was lucky enough to see all of these safari big nine and I also wanted to share photos I you have not seen yet (trust me, I have enough). Take a look at the gorgeous, and yes I am bias, shots i was able to get of these magnificent animals.
(1) The Lion
(2) The Leopard
(3) The Cheetah
(4) The Cape Buffalo
(5) The Elephant
(6) The Rhino
(7) The Hippo
(8) The Zebra (with a wildebeest photobomb)
(9) The Giraffe
I hope you guys like the safari and trip photos because they are going to be quite plentiful moving foward but you better believe I will still get back to the fashion – both my outfit posts and the hottest must-have items of the season.
Which of the Safari Big Nine is your favorite?

Wow. I love all of these photos. Can’t believe you got close to the Lion. That to me is the best shot of all. Hey where have you been. You missed 2 Fashion Fridays in a row. Boo Woo.

The lion looks so majestic. The color is gorgeous on the coat.
I would have been thrilled to see any of these animals close up.

Those hippos were fantastic. Their ears are so cute for such a huge animal

Awesome pictures, my favorite has to be the cheetah (but all big cats are great)

I am torn between the lion and the cheetah. They are both so gorgeous and the photos you have are unbelievable.
