When one trip is over, I start planning the next one. The bigger the trip, the farther ahead I plan and this one is going to be epic – in ten days I leave for Kenya and Tanzania and as such we have started planning more than a year ahead of time. Who is “we” you ask? Well this is definitely not a solo trip – I am excited to be spending two weeks in central Africa with my parents and my brother – 10 years after we went the first time my family is going back to Africa. The first trip was absolutely incredible and I am THRILLED to have the opportunity to again and visit new places.
Excuse the quality of the photos (can you imagine what they will look like this time???) but take a look at some of my favourite moments from our last trip where we visited South Africa, Zambia, and Botswana both on safari and with visits to some of the major cities.
I am thankful to say in the last 10 years I have become a MUCH better photographer so I can not wait to share some much better photos with you all this time again. Oh, and in case you missed this the first time around in early 2013 check out this post Warning, Graphic: My Experience with a Warthog in Botswana
As someone who is “in to” social media I often get asked if I have a YouTube channel and my answer is usually no. To be honest, that is not quite true – I do have a YouTube channel that has a few recent videos including some clips from the Galapagos (here and here) and one from Lord of the Dance which I wrote about here but 90% of my nearly 600,000 YouTube views are from a video that is nearly a decade old. I was some crazy kid who while on safari in Botswana decided to film four lions taking down a warthog. Yes, you read that correctly. This is so far from pumba. If you are not of the weak of stomach, take a look!
Have you ever been to Africa?

Ahhh! Reading this made me SO SO SO EXCITED! We are heading to Kenya for 14 days this fall and I’m jumping out of my seat about it. I’ve never been, but my husband grew up there, so he’s been telling me for years about all the magical adventures he had. I will be following along!

Okay I’m so jealous of this trip. I love following your blog and all your other trips but this one you’re going to take seems spectacular. I look forward to reading all about it and seeing your photos. Have a great trip.

I want to get to Africa so badly I’ve been saving for a long time to go. So for now I’ll have to live vicariously through you and your travels and your photos. Love the one with penguins too I never knew there were penguins in Africa.
