The weekend before last I was in Cape Cod with my parents and I am so happy that after dealing with a family few things during the later half of the week, things turned towards positive and we were able to truly enjoy the weekend. Despite the fact my parents have spent the last four summers in Massachusetts I have yet to go on a sunset sail so I was thrilled when a Saturday evening sailboat ride made its way on to the agenda – a lovely evening.
But in any true Cape Cod, or really New England evening, you need to start with fresh seafood and I am absolutely loved these clam bellies we bought at the Clam Shack! The Clam Shack of Falmouth is in by no means fancy but they serve scrumptious fish on paper plates and we each enjoyed an over heaping platter sitting on the rooftop picnic tables.
After delicious seafood and some water to cool down on the warm day we collected our tickets and got in line to board the 6:30pm sail on Liberte, The Schooner. The description on the website tells you the boat will head wherever the winds take you and on Saturday night the winds really did not want to take us anywhere so instead of West to Woods Hole and the Nobska Lighthouse or South to Oak Bluffs and Vineyard Haven on Martha’s Vineyard we hung out in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean and it was still beautiful as I sipped Pinot Grigio. The cloud cover did not make for a pink sunset but it was still a gorgeous evening as I wore one of preppiest outfits I have put together in nearly a decade!
And while this is definitely not an outfit post I know I will be asked so I will go ahead and share links to what I am wearing in this über preppy outfit: a Lilly Pulitzer flamingo tank from a few seasons ago (similar), J. Crew 3″ chino shorts in bright royal, kate spade new york ‘gramercy’ bracelet watch in rose gold, and Sperry Original Cross Lace Boat Shoe Navy which I had not worn in years but heck, I was on a boat!
Have you ever been on a sunset sail?
