Apartment Sneak Peek

07/30/14 | City Living, New York City, Real Life

At the end of June I moved in to a new apartment and for the past month have been ecstatic about my new place.  My friend Chris pointed out that this is the third apartment I have had since graduating and my friends Kyle asked if I was done moving around New York City yet.  Hopefully the answer is yes, to both.  I am in love with my studio apartment and while I am slowly buying things, doing DIY projects, and decorating here are five shots of my New York City studio!

Before the photos though, I feel like I need to preface them with the post that Nadine, from East & ,wrote  in March about the lies TV tells us about living rooms.  Her first point was about the size of the apartments usingThe New Girl and Friends as examples – based on the characters jobs the size of their apartments in the locations is utter ridiculousness.  If I have to hear one more time that my rent is more expensive then your mortgage in the suburbs – well, that is your choice and this is mine.  For the first time since high school I have a place all to myself and it is glorious.  I have had requests from blogging friends, family, and real life friends to see my apartment.  Well, it is a work and progress and even though it is not done yet, here is a sneak peek:

I promise to post more about my New York City studio shortly,
but until then, I hope you like it!

Ah! i hope I didn’t imply that life would be better in the suburbs in a bigger place. That is SO not the case. I was just shocked initially (years ago, now) by how small apartments were in major cities compared to what I saw on TV. I’d take a smaller apartment in Manhattan over living in the burbs any day!

Oh my goodness, no, that is not went I meant at all! I was referring to your great post to emphasize that when someone says they have a studio apartment in a major metropolitan city that others should not expect the apartments that TV shows us!

Love it!! I’m moving in less than a month so I’ve really been into seeing how other people decorate their place! I can’t even imagine having that view of New York! So jealous! The apartment I’m living in now has a view of the parking lot and the one I’m moving into has the view of a busy street -_- lucky me LOL

Looks amazing – I love your style (and shoes!). I think there is definitely something about having an NYC apartment that can never compare to a house or an apartment elsewhere, despite the cost. Live it up!

It looks so good!! I lived in NYC for a short period. My apartment was so teeny tiny (even though it was technically a two bedroom), but I absolutely loved every single thing about it! I love NYC!

Oh my goodness, I love it! I can’t wait to see more. People just need to keep their opinions to themselves about your finances and how much you’re paying for rent, etc..

I didn’t know that Keurig had blue machines!

Well you can tell your friends that living in a studio in NYC is practically an experience in itself and will be worth it in the end! I love the pig with wings and I can’t wait to see what you do to the place.

    • Kelly says

      July 30, 2014 at 10:03 am

I did, I did! Last summer I started on the wine cork “K” but drastically underestimated the amount of corks I needed. I finished it a few weeks ago!
