Father’s Day Gift Guide

06/05/14 | Father's Day, Gift Guide

Father’s Day is next Sunday, June 15th, and can we just stop for a second and marvel that in eight days weekend we will be half way through June.  When the heck did 2014 start moving on fast-forward? With the holiday quickly approaching  I am stuck on what to get for my father as a gift.

My dad is impossible to buy for, honestly, I have racked my brain for weeks and have consistently drawn a blank.  I thought putting together a list of ideas would help me, but alas, no luck.  But not to let my efforts go to waste, I hope you find something great on this gift guide for the men in your life.

The thought behind this list was originality.  What do you get for the man in your life who seems to have everything this Father’s Day?  Well, I have ten ideas that might get you thinking.  And why still do none of these items wrk for my dad?  That is the other tricky part.  This holiday comes every year so you also have to exclude all of those brilliant, sneaky, and well thought out gifts you have given over the past decade.

Sparkles and Shoes - 2014 Father's Day Gift Guide

Roku 3  –  My dad actually has the Roku 2 in his study and loves it! In my new apartment I am not having on planning cable so I think I will even invest in one of these for me, and heck, if I want it then it would definitely be a great gift for someone else!

London Undercover Maple Handle Plaid-Lined Umbrella  – What a classy umbrella, I love the touch of plaid and would not mind at all if this was over my head! (And I love that my dad is chivalrous enough that he would definitely hold it out for my mom or I if it was raining, even if that meant he would get wet!)

Baxter Straight Edge Razor – Old fashioned razors? I do not really understand but they are a luxury that many men do love, so why not give one for Father’s Day?

ZAGAT America’s Top Golf Courses Seventh Edition  – My dad would absolutely love this if he did not already own an earlier issue.  This would be a great gift for any dad who loves playing 18 and an ideal option to not break the bank.

Caddis Pro 2000 Fly Fishing Float Tube with Large Fly Box – According to one friend who just bought this as a joint gift with her brother, this is the best of the best. I have not fished since one horrid experience on a Brownie trip when I was 8 but if your dad, granddad, baby daddy, or anyone else likes fishing, apparently this is it.

Thinksound MS01 In-Ear Monitor with Passive Noise Isolation – These headphones are apparently the end all to be all.  I  know this as I heard a man RAVING about them on Amtrak.  The reason I put raving in caps – we were in the quiet car and he was absolutely shouting into his cell phone. I guess they work.

Anthony – The Perfect Shave — Last year my friend Kortney bought her husband a gift card for an old fashion barber shave for Christmas and at the time I thought it was the strangest thing to spend over $50 on a 45-minute shave but apparently it is “an experience”.  Well, this luxury shave kit allows your man to get the same experience at home!

Premiere Cutlery Set  – These knives would be a great gift for my dad, again, if he did not already own a similar set. I think they are safe Father’s Day pick though for almost any guy on your list – to go with their manly grilling they need a great set of knives to cut that delicious meat / fish /manly protein.

Colorado’s Breckenridge Bourbon Whiskey  – Neither my dad or my grandfather are whiskey drinkers but if someone on your list is, I hear good things about this one.

Race a Ferrari Experience – This is something I saw a Groupon for and automatically pinned it for this collection.  What guy would not love the chance to race a beautiful luxury sports car around a track with no strings attached?

Would you pick up any of these items for your men this Father’s Day?

Luxe shaving stuff is always a good idea! Don’t forget the goat hair brush, french milled shaving soap, and the Bay Rum!
