Some Sunday’s just really need to lazy Sundays. I agree with Nadine that even if the weather app on your phone dictates that you really should be outside and soaking up some of that vitamin D, some days are just perfect for Netflix / movie marathons. Now that I do not have cable if I want to have a lazy Sunday, movie marathon I have to make one for myself. My perfect Sunday where I have blog posts galore to write, dozens of comments to respond to, and general house keeping items I love movies to keep me company. The criteria?
1) It must be a chick-flick or rom-com
2) It must be a movie I have already seen (so I do not need to pay too much attention)
3) It must have a happy ending
All six movies on this list meet that criteria and then some. And it does not hurt that all have an amazingly attractive leading man – hello Hugh, Patrick, Pierce, Heath, Richard, and Cary.
However, there is one movie on this list that does not even deserve to be included in the collage, it needs to stand by itself, or rather, themselves. I do not smoke cigarettes or have two beautiful men knocking down my door but somehow I just feel like Bridget gets me:
Mindy said it better than I ever could:
“But the role that makes me cry is Mark Darcy, from Bridget Jones’s Diary. We first meet Mark, and he’s kind of a, well, dick. He’s arrogant and judgmental and seems to take himself so seriously. But, he is secretly wonderful. (and not-so-secretly gorgeous.) There is a part in the movie—I’ve seen it six or seven times, and I swear to god, every time I see it coming, I start tearing up in anticipation—when we first see that Mark Darcy is not a bad guy. In fact, we see that he is the best guy ever. Do you guys remember the scene when Bridget is sneaking out of the horrible couples dinner, having humiliated herself in front of all of her “smug marrieds”? and when she’s at the door, Mark stops her and he says: I like you, very much. Just as you are. it’s ridiculous that i love this so much. it’s so simple, it’s not a witty, perfectly phrased, ephron-y declaration by our charming, neurotic hero. it’s so … plain. But the idea is the most beautiful thing in the world.” -Mindy Kaling
So there you have it – eight amazing movies to get make the perfect Sunday!
Happy Mother’s Day!

Great list! I love sweet home Alabama, it’s one of my faves! I have to admit I haven’t seen of all these including the Bridget jones diary ones. But I DO want to see them, especially now that you’ve brought them back up.
I believe I’ll have a lazy Sunday here shortly.

The first Bridget Jones will forever be at the top of my list. I loved all the books too. Well, except for the last one, which I REFUSE to read. If you haven’t heard what happens, you don’t want to know.

Those 3 rules are right on. We watched Delivery Man and Last Vegas this weekend and I can now add those to my marathons 🙂

I might be the only weird person on the planet who isn’t into Bridget Jones movies, but I make up for it with my obsession with virtually every other romantic comedy ever made!

I’m just loving to see my favorite movie of all time among those: Thomas Crown Affair!

I love watching a movie or two on a Saturday night. And on Sunday’s as well. I am a big movie person. Especially romantic comedies. I love Bridget Jones. I remember reading all the books. I think that is one of the things that made me want to get into writing and blogging. I also love the movies.
